Written by the 17th century theologian during a time of great illness and looming death, Baxter wrote about the fear of death, the existence of sin and suffering, as well as God's divine grace. Rebound. Half binding. Chocolate brown cloth with deep brown leather. Stamped gilt on spine. All edges dyed red. 836 pp. Includes charming printed manicules in the margins along with printed marginalia. The previous owner's took great care in having the text professionally restored. Pages 79/80 and 115 have had small repairs done to close tears at the fore-edge. An overall handsome copy.
