A biography covering the military career of Albert Sidney Johnston, an American General who served in the United States, Republic of Texas, and Confederate States armies written by the General's son. A FAIR conditioned copy of this 1878 first edition. bound in brown cloth covered boards with embossed decoration on front and back boards with gilt lettering and designs along spine, gilt fadded and nearly gone. Cloth fadded due to age, rubbed along all edges and bummped at all ends. Binding has been repaired at hinges with brown cloth to match endpages. Page XV repaired with tape by a previous owner, foxed. With an inspription on second free end paper, " Presented to Mr. A. S. Burleson with the compliments of the author. June 14th 1884." Reciept fro purchase the the 1800's lain in.
