Overview

The Indigenous Way is about a Native American boy named Shanti, who struggles with family issues and has conflicts with his peers. Shanti's father abuses alcohol and has anger problems. His parents' marriage is failing, so everyone is stressed. Shanti needs help with all of this and more, so the Great Spirit offers loving guidance through wise animals and a tribal elder. They teach him how to ask for and receive spiritual guidance, open his mind to love, forgive himself and others, find inner peace in the midst of conflict, and give in ways that heal. There is no religious dogma in these stories.

These are teaching stories for children and adults that also entertain. The life skills that are taught in each chapter draw upon those from prior chapters, so it is best to start at the beginning of the book. Reading them together with your children will bring more love into our world.
