Overview

This book on Father Junípero Serra, a Spanish priest and missionary who founded 9 of the 21 missions in California, was written by his close friend and travelling companion Fray Francisco Palóu. This edition, the first title to be printed by the Nueva California Press, was published to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Serra's death. A separately printed introduction to this work is included along with an advertisement for future publications. The boards are stained/discolored with some chipping to the spine and bottom edge. The dust jacket is chipped, torn, and held together with tape in several places. It is encased in a protective vinyl covering. The front endpaper has a bookplate for a previous owner.
