A first edition of this Gothic romance comparable to 1971's "The Exorcist." Dorothy Daniels was married to prolific mystery author Norman Daniels. "She originally helped her late husband with his writing by editing and typing his manuscripts. He later aided her in getting her own career started, and has been widely and wrongly credited with writing much of her work" (Encyclopedia.com). Her work stands out from others in the Gothic genre for its intense and clear focus on character development and thoughtful plot development, with Lancer Books crediting her as America's most popular Gothic novelist. Dyed red on all edges, slight toning to cover, and some instances of rubbing and mild ink transfer on back cover of book.
