The 12th edition from 1922 contains all the previous volumes from the 11th edition and includes an additional three volumes and indexes to address the changes and news occuring in the years after 1911. This edition was the standard for all subsequent editions until the 15th in 1974. This edition was also a transition from the British to American publication, which resulted in an increase in American and Canadian centric articles and included several contributions written by women. This complete set is a time capsule of the thought, inventions and popular culture of the early 20th century through WWI. A perfect source of reference for the curious and the scholarly.
Red 3/4 leather with gold gilt on spines. Rubbing, bumping, schipping, fraying to leather corners and spine. Toning and staining to edge pages. Hinges loosening on Volume 31-32.
