This book contains philosopher John Locke's work on rational thought and philosopher/statesman Francis Bacon's essays on morality, economics, and political matters along with a short biographical sketch of both men. It is bound in brown leather with a debossed design on the covers and spine. The endpapers and page edges are marbled. The leather is cracked on the front hinge and top edge of the front cover. The corners are bumped and the marbling on the fore edge is faded.
