Very rare inscribed and self-published copy of Ned Hubbell's Sherlock Holmes homage novel. Printed in 1973, this copy predates the Popular Library's first printing by six years. As is typically the case, the imitation fell short of the original, and the book, despite the greater availability, remained a niche interest. The book has a red cloth exterior with gilt lettering on the spine and front cover. It is uniquely rope bound. The title page and final page feature sketches by Lois W. Hubbell. There are several minor spots of soiling on the book's spine, front/back covers, and towards the outer page edges at the beginning of the book. Soiling on the top page edge (primarily impacts the top portions of the final two pages of text and the back endpaper). The book is, otherwise, structurally sound. A truly exciting find for collectors of books with strange histories!
