Rare first edition copy of That Printer of Udell's, a book with a fascinating (and little known) history! Given as a childhood gift to Ronald Regan, the future President, reflecting upon his youth, identified Wright's book as having profoundly impacted his development. The stated year of publication on the title page is 1903 (by The Book Supply Co. in Chicago), and the copyright page lists two years, 1902 (the initial year of establishment) and 1903 (year of issuance). The front cover illustration is centered, unlike in later editions, and matches the frontis illustration. The book also contains eight additional illustrations by John Clitheroe Gilbert, which were not always included in subsequent printings. There is very minor cracking to the front hinge, and the binding is worn-in (somewhat loose) but sound. An unusual and obscure find fit for any antiquarian book collector or fans of literature and history seeking a true gem!
