Overview

This is a biographical anthology assembled and introduced by historian James Parton collects essays and portraits of notable authors and public figures of the ninteenth century and earlier; including Victor Hugo, Charles Dickens, Sir Walter Scott, and Abraham Lincoln. This copy is from 1885 and does show its age in some wear to the interior hinge, which is loose along the bottom. It has been stamped on the flyleaf as having previously belonged to an attorney's office in Columbus, Ohio. Apart from the loose hinge, the binding is otherwise intact, and there are no markings to the cover or text block.
