Blue cloth, hardcover gilt lettering to cover and spine, 120 pp. Tightly bound, interior pages show signs of foxing. A collection of letters exchanged between August N. Chemidlin, tutor of the children of James J. Hill, and Monsignor Louis E. Caillet, who organized St. Mary's parish and became rector of St. Paul Seminary. Features photographs and illustrations throughout. This copy was originally printed for private circulation and edited by Hill's daughter, Clara, one of Chemidlin's students. There is a card laid in reading "With compliments of / Mrs. Erasmus C. Lindley / 251 Summit Avenue / St. Paul, Minn." A collectible piece of Minnesota history!
