Overview
Shaking Eve's Tree is an anthology of short stories by contemporary Jewish women writers, many on mother-daughter relationships. The seventeen stories echo a major concern in the larger sphere of Jewish women's fiction: they deal with healing and new ways to form relationships within the family. Niederman's introduction addresses the development of Jewish women's fiction in the US and explores the reasons for self-censorship of the Jewish female experience. Shaking Eve's Tree is a wonderful collection of stories that men as well as women will enjoy, ponder, and read again.
