Ryszard Horowitz is a Polish photographer who is considered a pioneer of special effects photography before the rise of digital imaging. His surrealist images transport the viewer into a fantastical world, and many photos feature collage inspired elements. To create his complex photo compositions, Horowitz used darkroom retouching, multiple film exposures, camera manipulation, and more before digital effects. His early work focused on jazz musicans and music fesitvals before transitioning into advertising. This collection of work includes portraits, advertisements, magazine covers, experimental photos, and sketches; also included are several texts detailing Horowitz's life and career, as well as discussions on photography as a medium. Light scuffing to dust jacket. Edges of pages are slightly discolored.
