First Edition. U.S. Col. Olsen was one of the last surviving officers of the Bataan Death March of World War II. After his return to the states he vowed to write a history of the O'Donnell Extermination Camp of American hostages in the Philippines, which he honored with the publication of this book. While imprisoned in O'Donnell in 1942, Olson was appointed Assistant to the Adjutant, a role he used to keep secret records of the camp. Upon being transferred, he buried the records in the wilderness, supposedly recovering these documents after the war in 1948 to write the history of Camp O'Donnell. In his account, he draws parallel to the Civil War POW camp, Andersonville. Dust jacket unclipped. Instances of rubbing along top and bottom edge of jacket, some denting along top portion of spine hinge with front cover. Tan boards match dust jacket in design and with similar bumping.
