The Norrœna Library was a multi volume subscription set from the turn of the century - a literary venture to educate Americans about the history, culture and literature of pre-Christian Northern Europe. At the time of their publication, the Norrœna Library was the largest collection of medieval Nordic literature published outside of Scandinavia.
The boutique-publishing house produced various limited-number editions in the first decade of the 20th century. This edition is the Memorial Edition, published in 1907, with a print run of 500 sets of 15 volumes – each set being hand-numbered. Each copy is bound in leather, with gilt top pages and deckled edges. Most volumes have handsome gilt cover designs that evoke their subject matter.
