Written by his brother John Faulkner, this book presents William "Bill" Faulkner as a boy. On the title page is an inscription that resembles "To Connie 23 Jun 84 Chooky Falkner". "Chooky" was a nickname of Murray C. Falkner Sr. Chooky was the nephew of William Faulkner and son of the author John Faulkner. John's third novel was named Chooky, whose protagonist Chooky is a composite of Faulkner's two sons, Jimmy and Murry.
