Then, with the heart of a new recruit, he expresses the feelings of an All American kid who finds himself in the middle of a world war. Through his joining the navy, training, and aboard his new assignment, we follow Max as he eventually heads off to fight in the Pacific war. Max was as American as apple pie, baseball and the red, white and blue. It was just such as Max that helped America and its allies win that conflict, or any other.
