Overview

Known as Louise Élisabeth Vigée Le Brun or simply as Madame Le Brun, this regency era oil painter won much acclaim in her own time for serving as Marie Antoinette's personal portrait painter, enjoying the patronage of the European aristocracy."Vigée Le Brun created 660 portraits and 200 landscapes. In addition to many works in private collections, her paintings are owned by major museums, such as the Louvre in Paris, Hermitage Museum in Saint Petersburg, National Gallery in London, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York" (Wikipedia). Black and White prints of her work featured throughout. Beautiful Rococo illustrated boards over dark burgundy spine, quarter-bound with gilt-stamped title on spine. Rubbing on board edges, bumped with some splitting at fore corners. Deckled edges on all edges.
