Illustrated story told in poetry format. Bound in red board with gilt detailing; edges are gilt. Cover is embossed with a wheat pattern. Inscription on page before title page dated to Christmas 1875. Binding remains tight, though it has been warped slightly, leaving the book slightly slanted. Some tearing of the board at the spine top and bottom. Throughout the book, there are areas where the illustrations appear to have imprinted on the opposite page.
