St. Germain was the the 6th century bishop of Paris and is venerated as a saint in both the Catholic Church and the Eastern Orthodox Church. His work in the Frankish church would help lay the foundation for the various medical, educational, and welfare supports that would aide French civilization throughout the centuries and up until our own time.
