'Superbly embellished with striking illustrations," this narrative biography of famed Ohio General, William Tecumseh Sherman, details his boyhood and military education, ultimately culminating in his capture of Atlanta, Georgia during the American Civil War; his "march to the sea" thereafter greatly contributed to the surrender of the Confederate States and the re-election of Abraham Lincoln. Decorative red boards, well faded. The black ink-stamped designs and the gilt-stamed title and portrait on front cover and spine are well faded as well. Moderate instances of bumping to corners and minor rubbing to baord edges. Features marbled edges and green decorative pastedowns, though the former is faded. Book embosser used on bottom page corner before the title page.
