Alex Sanders was a Pagan leader who founded Alexandrian Wicca, or Alexandrian Witchcraft, along with his wife, Maxine Sanders, in the wake of the 1951 repeal of the old Witchcraft Act. This book club edition with yellow cloth boards and deckle edge was copyrighted in 1969, just four years after Sanders was elected "King of the Witches." This copy is missing its dust jacket and has a cracked hinge in the appendix on pages 154 and 155. This version does feature 8 black and white photographs on glossy paper bound at the center of the book. These photographs show Sanders, his wife, and their fellow practitioners performing certain rituals associated with both light and dark magic. June Johns' has written here a history of Alex Sanders that is both awe-inspiring and informational.
