"James and Kudo Dog" is an entertaining and heartwarming story about a family deciding to adopt a dog. James, his brother and sister all want a dog, but their mother needs to think about it. When they decide to bring the dog home, they face some challenges. The dog throws up in the family car, makes a mess in the house, and steals the children's socks. Everyone is upset and the mother wonders if adopting the dog was a good idea. They learn that the whole family must work together to take care of their new pet. They also discover that having a dog creates opportunity for being active, playing outside and family bonding. Through their teamwork, they come to experience the full joy of owning a pet and working together as a family. "James and Kudo Dog" is a pleasant read for an early or beginning reader written at a Flesch-Kincaid Grade level of 1.3. It is the 2nd book in the James Goes Fast series.
