Legendary crooner Engelbert Humperdinck was born in Madras, India, as Arnold Dorsey, and moved to England as a child. Adopting his stage name from that of a moderately known German-born classical composer, this "newer" incarnation carved out a successful path in the pop music world in the late '50s, with even bigger fanfare in the `70s-and he's still entertaining maddening crowds today. Among the many are the best-known "Release Me (And Let Me Love Again)" and "After the Lovin'."
