As the author says in his preface, "It is not an easy task to make a history. It is said that history records itself. It does, but men and periods and individualities pass into time..." What follows is a two volume set, with volume one being particularly a narrative sketch of the biographical and historical information on the residents of Hamilton, Ohio from 1792 to 1896, and volume two being a concise history of the city published in 1901 from George Mitchell Press. Dark green cloth boards, 5"x8," 468 pages with previous owner's plate on FFEP, minor water damage on blank page following FFEP, black and white portrait photo plates throughout both volumes with illustrated plates featured in volume two.
