Five small octavos contain thirteen of Goethe's dramas (including Faust), novels, and Truth and Poetry: From My Own Life in two volumes. Decorated with half-leather and marbled boards, gilt spine designs and lettering, and marbled edges, pastedowns, and free ends. These copies have wear, rubbing, and bumping on the boards, as well as fading on the edges. The binding is very tight on all the books, as if they were never read. Printed within the last two years of Bell and Daldy before disbanding. George Bell went on to create George Bell and Sons, while Fredrick Daldy went to Virtue, Spalding and Daldy.
