Overview

Signed by Air-Commodore Peregrine Forbes Morant Fellowes and another indecipherable "Fellowes." P.F.M. Fellowes was the leader of the expedition to be the first to fly an airplane over the tallest mountain on Earth, Mt. Everest or known locally as Sagarmatha or Qomolangma. This expedition was a milestone in the developments in technology, aviation and photography. The book has several black and white photographs of the geography, planes, crew and local population and recounts the planning and execution of the expedition. Much of the information gained from this flight was used by the first successful climbers to summit the mountain almost two decades later. P.F.M. Fellowes was also a distant relative of the creator of Downton Abbey and other hit movies and series, Julian Fellowes. A unique book about an important, but often overlooked, moment in world history. Former library copy with stamping and markings. Tan canvas boards with gold gilt on spine and embossed design on front. Rubb
