Overview

Busch (1832 – 1908) was a German satirist and illustrator; his early "comic strips" are reprinted in Germany to this day. This large format board book features the adventures of a mischievous monkey who is brought to Germany from Africa. Originally published in 1879, it contains the racial stereotypes as well as the often violent humor of the times. This board book edition only contains 8 of the 12 chapters of the original and also lacks the introduction, presumably to keep the board book at a reasonable size. Some staining to tail of spine and bottom edges.In German.
