Complete 24 volume set detailing humanity's knowledge gained by the mid-twentieth century, with particular emphasis on updated finds by Trans-Antartic explorers Vivian Fuchs and Edmund Hillary, and represents a major effort to update the Britannica post-WWII. Volume 12 contains two closed tears on plates 1 - 4 of the passage on Italy which have been repaired by previous owner with clear tape. 8 3/4" x 11 1/4" brownish red leather over boards.
