Before he was elected President of the United States, Herbert Hoover and his wife, Lou Henry Hoover, translated the text of De Re Metallica by Georgius Agricola from the original Latin, and published their work with a leather cover, rough cut pages, and a slip case This edition is signed by Herbert Hoover: "To Thompson S Weikel / With the Good Wishes of / Herbert Hoover" Spine is splitting about halfway down on one side, bumped corners and bottom on front cover, slight discoloration of leather cover, and has ex-libris plates from former owners - Thompson S.
