Overview

This daily devotional is 365 days of real life short stories about horses and life on a horse farm and how the Lord is in all of it. It will delight you in every way and will make you smile, laugh and even tear up at times but most of all it will inspire, encourage and give you hope. You will never look at barn chores or horses in the same light again. **************************** HERE IS A SAMPLE PAGE ****************************************************************************************************************** February 7th - They Keep Pulling The Fence Down **** By February of each winter the horses are starting to get bored outside and they seem to find themselves getting into trouble on a regular basis. It never ceases to amaze me that we will get a call from one of our boarders that one of the fences is down in the gelding paddocks on the extremely cold and windy days. When we get that call I can always picture the expression on my husband's face because he knows he is going to be fixing fence in cold weather. In the summer when the horses are on pasture all day they are very quiet and content and get into very little or no trouble. It can be months before we have a strand from the fence come down. In the winter it would be safe to say it happens at least once a month and especially with the geldings I think they have too much idle time on those cold days. They get bored and start playing around and before you know it one of them has caught the bottom line and pulled it down. They are ridden much less and the cool air makes them frisky and it adds up for the perfect storm. When I think about the horses I realize how much we do the same thing. Our minds are always going and if we have too much idle time that is when our mind starts to wander and we get ourselves into trouble or close to it. Isn't that one of the reasons we try to keep our children busy in activities? We worry about them doing the same thing. The same would be true for us adults. We are hopefully wiser as we get older but we are still human and our mind can take us places that we shouldn't be. Keep your focus on God and when you feel tempted to do something that could have bad results keep in prayer and ask for strength. "Pulling the fence down" is something we all have done and as we are pulling it down it is shocking us and we keep going. The electric shock is to warn us and keep us safe. When the fence comes down God will be right there to fix it and guide you back where you need to be.*****Psalm 51:1 NIV Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions.****************************************************************************************************************** Running a horse business or owning horses for pleasure is a wonderful way to go through life but we have all gone through challenging days running our barn or riding our horses. This book is perfect for the horse trainer, barn owner or any other equine professional and it is simply perfect for the person that is crazy about horses "Each story and experience brings me back to the Lord and shows me how my life relates to everything that I do on our horse farm." At the end of each story is a bible verse that I truly believe relates to what the story is talking about. As I was writing this book I became more and more lifted up with each story I put down on paper. This devotional will lift you up each day before you head out to the barn or give you a peace after a long day working with horses and people. It will give you a renewed excitement for all that you can be in the world of horses.
