This book tells the life story of geologist Lowell R. Laudon, one of the most unique individuals in twentieth century American geology. Included are printouts of Laudon's obituary and selected bibliography and the profiles of two other geologists from the university, The first endpaper is inscribed with a quote by Laudon from a former student, as well as the student's signature. In the back of the book is a printed note praising Laudon and his teaching ability, it's signed by a Fred James, which appears to match the signature in the front. After some research, it was found that Fred James III recently passed away in Wichita, Kansas after a successful career in science. This is a thoughtful relic of a relationship between instructor and student, and a rare find in general. Condition notes: there are occasional margin notes made to indication James' participation in expeditions with Laudon, the dust jacket shows some wear and chipping at edges. Mylar applied to dust jacket.
