It explores themes of freedom, love, and the societal constraints on women in the 19th century." Also includes "The Marquis de Villemer" and "Handsome Lawrence" by the same author, Plain green boards with pastedown on spine. Spine is essentially illegible, heavily rubbed. Heavy bumping and rubbing on spine ends, corners. Text block remains strong although binding cracked within the second half. Front loose endpage missing.
