Translated from the French by Carroll Owen. This novel is "semi-autobiographical and follows the story of a young woman rebelling against her wealthy family to live a bohemian life across Europe. It explores themes of freedom, love, and the societal constraints on women in the 19th century." Also includes "The Marquis de Villemer" and "Handsome Lawrence" by the same author, Plain green boards with pastedown on spine. Spine is essentially illegible, heavily rubbed.
