Overview

The legend of Dekanawida, the Great Peacemaker, and the Iroquois Confederacy, come to life in Hastings. A small village in
the Wild River Valley in western Maine, adjacent to the river. e forming of the rst original colonies into a republic was
influenced from the concepts of the Iroquois Confederacy. George Washington and Benjamin Franklin found favor of many of these democratic principles and they were incorporated into the U.S. Constitution.

Tyler and Katrila Hunter build a house close to the Hastings village, Tyler becomes a trapper and one day he is removing
nuisance beaver for the Wild River Railroad when he is confronted by a recently battle-scarred bear. Katrila, a native born Abenaki tribal member from Lac Megantic, takes a nursing job in the medical center there in Hastings.

Towns spring up as there is need, and that's how Hastings, Maine, came about ... in this case, harvesting lumber was the need. When that need is no more, people leave, buildings are torn down or moved, and the tree growth takes over where there were streets, a school, homes, stores ... but once upon a time there were families there, and A Hastings Tale is a story
about them.
